Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026 · Plume ("Plume," "we," "us")
⚠️ Draft for review. Have counsel review before launch and before any paid acquisition. This reflects Plume's intended data practices.
Plume is a personal styling app that learns your taste and recommends outfits for your day and the weather. This policy explains what we collect, why, and your choices. We designed Plume to collect as little as possible and to keep your data private.
Information we collect
- Account info—your email address (to create your account, send service messages, and recover access).
- Pinterest data (only if you connect it)—with your permission via Pinterest's secure OAuth, we read the boards/pins you choose so we can learn your style. We do not post on your behalf and we don't access your Pinterest password.
- Photos you add ("your fits")—only the specific photos you hand-pick from your camera roll (via Apple's photo picker—we never get access to your whole library). We analyze them to learn your style; we don't catalog your items.
- Style quiz answers—the preferences you tap during onboarding.
- Approximate location / weather—used to match outfits to today's conditions. You can use a manually-entered location instead.
- Subscription & purchase data—handled by Apple and our billing processor (RevenueCat). We receive your subscription status; we never see or store your card details.
- Usage & device data—basic analytics (screens used, taps), device type, and app version to run and improve the app.
- Notification tokens—if you allow notifications, a push token so we can send your daily looks.
How we use your information
- To build your personal taste profile and generate daily outfit recommendations.
- To read the weather/your day and tailor suggestions.
- To run your subscription and free trial, and provide support.
- To send notifications you've opted into, and important service messages.
- To improve Plume (fix bugs, understand what's useful).
AI processing
To turn your pins, photos, and quiz answers into style tags (colors, vibe, garment types, warmth), we use AI vision models from our processor (Anthropic). Your content is processed to create your taste profile and is not used to train third-party AI models.
How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share only with service providers who help us run Plume, under contract: app hosting/database (Supabase), AI processing (Anthropic), payments (Apple, RevenueCat), analytics, email delivery, and push notifications. We may disclose information if required by law.
Tracking & advertising
If we ever use advertising attribution, iOS will ask your permission first (App Tracking Transparency). You can decline, and Plume will still work. We will keep our App Store "App Privacy" labels accurate.
Your photos are sensitive—our promise
Photos of yourself are used only to learn your taste. They are never shared, never used for ads, and you can delete them (and their contribution to your profile) at any time from your profile.
Your choices & rights
- Access / delete—you can delete your photos, disconnect Pinterest, or delete your entire account and data anytime in-app or by emailing us.
- Notifications—turn off anytime in settings or iOS.
- Regional rights—if you're in the EU/UK (GDPR) or California (CCPA/CPRA), you have rights to access, correct, delete, and port your data, and to object to certain processing. Contact us to exercise them.
Data retention & security
We keep your data while your account is active and delete it (or anonymize it) after you delete your account, except where we must retain records by law. We use encryption in transit and reputable infrastructure providers.
Children
Plume is not intended for anyone under 16. We don't knowingly collect data from children.
Changes
We'll update this page and the "last updated" date when our practices change, and notify you of material changes in-app.
